If one neighborhood defines Saint Lucia’s modern real estate market, it’s this one. Rodney Bay grew out of the same marina development that transformed Gros Islet in the 1970s. This included much of what is now referred to as Rodney Bay as Reduit Beach, now the island’s busiest, was but a narrow strip of relatively dry land with the bay on one side and the swamps on the other. During WW II there was an American naval base located there that was the home to a sea planes unit that searched the regional waters for German U-boats. Condos, townhouses, and gated villa communities cluster around the lagoon and marina, and the area’s walkability to the beach and these amenities sets it apart from almost anywhere else on the island. For buyers prioritizing rental yield and everyday convenience, Rodney Bay is often the first stop and the last word.
